Announcement for the Public Bible Reading

Published: October 28, 2024

We are marked by the first “sola” – Sola Scriptura. The public reading of God’s Word will take place tomorrow, October 29, 2024, at 6:00 PM at the Evangelical Pentecostal Church Osijek (Cvjetkova 32) – you are warmly invited!

We want to listen and receive God’s Word in our “heart of flesh” (Ezekiel 11:19) and be united as a people who listen carefully and hear (Nehemiah 8:3).

We will read Deuteronomy 4:44–11:31. Here, Moses reminds the people of the miracle of their election, the covenant between the people of Israel and God at Sinai, and the Decalogue – the Ten Commandments. These chapters represent Moses’ final testament and a testimony of his encounter and walk with God. They begin with a reminder of God’s great works and the people’s election, the act of salvation, and how God led them through the wilderness into the Promised Land. They speak of God’s wrath and what happened when the people were disobedient and unfaithful, as well as God’s faithfulness, grace, and love. The chapters conclude with a call to make a decision and a reminder of what happens when we follow His path, and what happens when we stray from it.

This is the text of Moses’ sermon that we are also called to hear. It was often a turning point in the life of the people of Israel when they forgot God’s law and strayed from His path.
